Every book of hers that I’ve read has always gripped me from the very 1st page and this one is no exception! None of the characters were likeable, the story took an age to get going, and the ending was both unbelievable (not in a good way) and disappointing. Alice seems to lead a quiet life: the first three days of the week, she works in Paris and and meets with friend Philip, and his little boy, Simon. I was really excited about what I thought was being built up to, but it ended up going off on a completely different tangent to the one I was expecting. I use my writing to try to explore what I’m feeling, I try to get into the heads of other people so I can see things from their point of view.

My Other Husband is like a gigantic puzzle of obsession, control, secret lives, and past crimes, and I absolutely loved how the pieces slowly came together as we moved between past and present to unravel Cleo’s mindblowing past.

Never one to rest on her laurels, Dorothy Koomson really takes things to another level with My Other Husband. Heath is really nothing at all as we first imagine, and as his behaviour becomes increasingly out of control, and his jealousy and paranoia increases, his actions have such a profound effect on Cleo. I certainly couldn’t predict how the story would eventually play out, anyway, and it constantly took me by surprise, so this was such a great reading experience for me overall.
It’s become a popular TV show but she’s severing all ties with the show and divorcing her husband Wallace who she’s still. Dorothy Koomson always knows how to pull her readers into a storyline and keep you completely wrapped up in the protagonist’s lives. My Other Husband is fantastic in so many ways, it draws you into Cleo’s life, like your standing outside the window watching the drama unfold. I did like some of the characters, especially Sidney, but felt that a good story became a little fantastical when all was said and done.
